Job Overview

RSVP South End is seeking skilled, professional, and energetic bartenders to join our private events team. As a cashless venue accepting only credit and debit cards, bartenders must be comfortable handling electronic transactions efficiently. This role requires providing exceptional customer service in a high-end private event setting, preparing high-quality cocktails, and maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar.

Bartenders must check IDs when required on events when a door person is not present, ensuring compliance with age restrictions and responsible alcohol service policies. This is an on-call position, with shifts available based on performance, reliability, and our private event booking calendar.

Key Responsibilities

Drink Preparation & Service

• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages quickly and accurately, following RSVP South End’s recipes and standards.
• Maintain expert knowledge of classic cocktails, batch recipes, and featured event drinks.
• Ensure all beverages meet strict portion control and upscale presentation standards.
• Handle high-volume banquet service efficiently while maintaining quality and speed.
• Monitor guest alcohol consumption and adhere to responsible service policies, cutting off patrons when necessary.

Customer Service & Guest Experience

• Greet event guests warmly and engage in polished, professional interactions suitable for corporate and private functions.
• Provide recommendations based on guest preferences and accommodate specific event host requests.
• Ensure guests have an exceptional experience while maintaining an upscale and accommodating attitude.
• Handle customer concerns and resolve minor issues while escalating larger concerns to event coordinators or management when necessary.

Cashless Transactions & ID Verification

• Process credit and debit card payments quickly and accurately using the venue’s POS system (RSVP South End is a cashless venue).
• Handle tips appropriately and follow house tip-out procedures.
• Check IDs and verify legal drinking age during private events when a door person is not scheduled.
• Refuse service to underage guests and report any fraudulent IDs or suspicious behavior to management.

Bar Maintenance & Organization

• Keep the main bar or portable banquet stations clean, stocked, and organized throughout the event.
• Ensure all liquor, mixers, garnishes, and catering supplies are replenished as needed.
• Properly set up and break down the bar before and after each private event shift.
• Follow sanitation and health guidelines, including proper glassware handling, handwashing, and waste disposal.
• Assist with inventory checks and report low-stock items to management.

Compliance & Safety

• Follow all alcohol service laws and responsible serving guidelines.
• Be aware of customer behavior, recognizing signs of over-intoxication, and taking appropriate action gracefully.
• Work closely with event coordinators, security, and management to ensure a safe environment for guests and staff.
• Adhere to all venue safety policies and emergency procedures.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old and legally permitted to serve alcohol.
• Previous bartending experience in private events, banquets, catering, or upscale dining preferred.
• Must be comfortable working in a diverse, LGBTQ+-owned workplace and show respect and support for all coworkers and management.
• Flexible availability to work schedules based on the private event booking calendar (including days, evenings, and weekends).
• Strong multitasking, time-management, and adaptability skills.
• Outgoing, personable, and highly professional demeanor suitable for corporate and private clients.
• Must maintain a clean and professional appearance while strictly following the event-specific dress code.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (including setting up portable bars), stand for extended periods, and work efficiently in a busy event environment.
• Must be punctual, reliable, and able to work on an on-call, event-driven basis, with potential for regular shifts based on performance.

Work Hours

• Schedules vary greatly based on private event client bookings (can include daytime, evening, and weekend events).
• Shifts include designated time before and after the event for setup and breakdown.
